Professor Guoding Zhu is deputy chief of the Malaria Department at the Jiangsu Institute of Parasitic Diseases. Zhu is also a junior lecturer and core facilitator for the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Research and Training on Malaria Elimination. He has worked in the field of malaria control for more than sixteen years with a particular focus on vector biology and understanding the causes of insecticide resistance in Anopheles mosquitos.

In addition to his research efforts, Professor Zhu directs international training courses on vector and parasite biology, malaria control, and eradication strategies. His group was responsible for the development of the “1-3-7″ malaria surveillance and response strategy for elimination—an approach adopted as a national strategy by the People’s Republic of China and adapted for inclusion in the WHO’s “Malaria Surveillance, Monitoring & Evaluation: A Reference Manual” in early 2018.
