Dr Phatchani Nakkhara is a public health technical officer in the Office of Disease Prevention and Control for Public Health Zone 12 at the Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. She has served as an epidemiologist working on infectious diseases, especially vector-borne diseases in conflict or unrest areas in the southernmost of Thailand, for 20 years. She has experience in outbreak investigations such as malaria, dengue hemorrhagic fever, chikungunya, lymphatic filariasis, and leishmaniasis.

She is a member of the monitoring and evaluation team for vector-borne diseases prevention and control in Public Health Zone 12. Currently, she is conducting research on spatio-temporal analysis of malaria transmission and completing a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effectiveness of permethrin-treated clothing in prevention of malaria infection.
