Manuel Hetzel
Manuel Hetzel, PhD, is a public health epidemiologist with a special interest in malaria. His research focuses on operational and health systems aspects of the implementation of malaria control interventions and the impact of scaling-up interventions in complex implementation environments.
For the past five years, Dr. Hetzel has been leading the evaluation of the national malaria control program in Papua New Guinea, including operational studies on vector control and quality of care interventions.
His prior experience includes demand and supply side studies on access to malaria treatment and care in rural Tanzania. Dr. Hetzel is also affiliated with the Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research and the University of Queensland in Australia.
