Experts convene in Barcelona for 2013 Science of Eradication: Malaria Course

The second edition of the Science of Eradication: Malaria leadership development course took place in Barcelona, Spain, from May 5-10, 2013. Hosted by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, fifty-nine participants from thirty-two countries convened at the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona (CCCB) for a 6-day intensive training course on malaria control and eradication.

The strong, interdisciplinary curriculum addressed a wide range of topics including malaria biology and epidemiology; vector and parasite biology; past elimination campaigns and lessons learned; the impact of social, historical, and political factors; the role of the private sector, and many others.
