Ananth Raman is UPS Foundation Professor of Business Logistics at Harvard Business School. He teaches courses on various aspects of Operational Excellence, including supply chain management, technology and operations management, and service operations to students and executive participants. He serves as Faculty Chair for the Owner/President Management Program for business owners and entrepreneurs, and is also actively involved in guiding multiple doctoral students at Harvard Business School.

He is co-director of a multi-year research project (the “Consortium for Operational Excellence in Retailing”) to study retail operations, supply chain, and merchandising practices. Over 30 retailers from the United States, Japan, and Europe have participated in this study. The project involves researchers from a number of universities including the Harvard Business School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has consulted with and been responsible for management education programs for executives in, a number of companies. His research on forecasting and inventory planning has been implemented at multiple companies.

Professor Raman earned a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology and a master’s in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management. He also earned a Doctor in Philosophy from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
