David Gold is a co-founder and principal at Global Health Strategies (GHS), an international global health consulting and communications firm. GHS has offices in the US, India, China and Brazil, and supports work in a number of countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. In 2011, GHS launched its non-profit affiliate, GHSi, which focuses on accelerating investment in global health by emerging economies. In 2014, GHS launched Global Finance Strategies, which provides financial and operational support for organizations, donors and companies in developing countries.

Prior to co-founding GHS, Mr Gold was the founding Vice President for Global Policy and Government Support at the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI). In that position, he oversaw the creation of IAVI’s global policy and advocacy programs, and its regional programs in North America, Europe, Japan, and Latin America. Working closely with IAVI’s chief executive officer, he helped IAVI attract political support and financial commitments totaling more than US$400 million from governments, multilateral agencies, and foundations. Mr Gold began working for IAVI in 1996 when he created the IAVI Report, a publication devoted to AIDS vaccine research. He is also co-founder of AVAC, an organization that advocates for global HIV prevention. He has written and contributed to a wide range of reports on AIDS research issues. He has also served on research advisory panels for a number of different organizations including UNAIDS and the US National Institutes of Health. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany and in Law degree from Boston University School of Law.
