Günther Fink’s, PhD, research interests cover a wide range of topics related to economic development, with a particular focus on the interactions between health and human capital on one side, and economic welfare on the other. Most of his more recent work focuses on identifying the consequences of exposure to infectious diseases in the sub-Saharan African context. As part of these efforts, Dr. Fink is currently the PI of the Zambia Early Childhood Development Project, a longitudinal study which measures the returns to early childhood investment in health and education.  Dr. Fink is currently also working on a series of related projects in Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Uganda, which aim at finding mechanisms to reduce the burden of disease generated by ill health in general, and malaria in particular.
