The inaugural 2012 edition of the Science of Eradication: Malaria leadership course was held June 3-11, 2012 at the Harvard Business School in Boston, MA. Consortium partners, faculty, and malaria experts from around the world gathered to share their knowledge and expertise in foundational malaria topics, including:

  • malaria biology and epidemiology;
  • vector and parasite biology;
  • application of vector control, drug, and vaccine strategies;
  • economic/financial tools and strategies;
  • lessons learned from past disease eradication campaigns;
  • impact of social, historical, and political factors;
  • surveillance techniques; and
  • modeling to evaluate the effectiveness of eradication strategies.
course overview
A ‘blueprint’ for worldwide malaria eradication does not exist, each setting requires tailored interventions based on local disease patterns

Our role in the global malaria eradication campaign is to apply new knowledge to local challenges, to bring about changes to close research gaps, and to advance the elimination agenda.
